Job Description
The Admin- IACUC role with Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in Basseterre, St. Kitts supports the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee and the administration of sponsored research activities. The position helps manage animal care and use compliance, research documentation, reporting, and administrative coordination for research and teaching involving animals. Responsibilities include managing research application and protocol submissions, reviewing protocols and amendments for compliance with IACUC policy and AAALAC-I standards, coordinating IACUC meetings, maintaining animal protocol records, supporting post-approval monitoring, assisting with semi-annual reviews, and helping conduct facility and laboratory inspections. The role also supports AAALAC-I accreditation activities and prepares annual and semi-annual reports for required recipients such as OLAW, IO, and AAALAC-I. The position works with investigators, students, staff, animal resources, veterinarians, environmental health and safety, student health services, campus security, facilities, and other teams to support compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and standards. It also supports research administration by compiling research metrics, reviewing proposals and budgets, assisting with post-award project management, monitoring regulatory compliance, and helping with progress reports and project close-outs. Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in a related research or science field, or equivalent specialized experience, plus at least three years of IACUC-related administrative experience or experience with animal care and use programs, research grants, or related projects. A Master’s Degree is preferred. The role also calls for experience with research animals, SOP and IACUC policy writing, electronic laboratory animal management systems, regulatory compliance, and animal care and use regulations. PRIM&R CPIA certification, or the intention to obtain it within one year, is required, and AALAS LATG and/or CMAR certification is also listed.
