Job Description
This full-time Small Animal Surgery Faculty position with Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in Basseterre, St. Kitts reports to the Department Head of Clinical Sciences and contributes to the School’s preclinical veterinary teaching program. The role includes teaching small animal surgery across multiple courses, participating in case-based and other didactic instruction, and supporting Essential Veterinary Skills laboratory sessions. Faculty responsibilities also include providing clinical consultation and mentorship within the Ross University Veterinary Clinic. The successful candidate is expected to establish an independent or collaborative research program, publish findings in peer-reviewed journals, present research at national and international scientific conferences, and pursue external research funding. Service responsibilities include participation on university and departmental committees and the supervision and mentoring of Master’s and PhD students. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by departmental leadership. Applicants must hold a DVM or equivalent degree and board certification in Small Animal Surgery through ACVS or ECVS. A PhD in addition to a DVM is highly preferred, as is prior teaching experience at an AVMA-accredited institution or equivalent. The position also calls for strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in an academic environment. Experience or interest in innovative, student-centered teaching methods is encouraged, and developing a research program aligned with the School’s focus areas or veterinary education is essential.
