This full-time Student Counseling Center Staff Therapist position with Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in Basseterre, St. Kitts is a non-faculty role within the Student Experience Team and is based in the IACS-accredited Counseling Center on the RUSVM campus. The position primarily provides in-person counseling services to veterinary medical students, including individual and group counseling, consultation, crisis assessment and intervention, case management, and coordination of care. Direct clinical services account for approximately 65% of total work hours. Additional responsibilities include developing trauma-informed psychoeducational materials, facilitating mental health outreach and prevention initiatives, and delivering workshops and presentations for students and the wider campus community. The therapist also provides consultation on student mental health to colleagues and other campus departments and professionals, maintains clinical documentation and case management records, participates in institutional and departmental meetings, and provides clinical oversight of the Counseling Center when the Director is absent. Services are delivered using a trauma-informed framework and in accordance with applicable professional standards and Counseling Center procedures. Occasional evening, weekend, or early morning hours may be required. Applicants must hold a Master’s or Doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, or a closely related field. Independent counseling licensure, or its equivalent, valid in a U.S. state, Canadian province, or regulated country is required, along with at least two years of experience working in a college or university counseling center. The position calls for strong clinical skills in psychotherapy, assessment, crisis intervention, and triage, as well as experience with outreach and prevention programming and working with diverse student populations. Experience with Titanium Software is preferred. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
