Job Description

This full-time temporary Cashier position with TDC in Saint George Basseterre, St. Kitts involves processing customer purchases at checkout and safeguarding company cash until collection. Responsibilities include greeting customers, accepting payments by cash, check, credit or debit card, and voucher, scanning merchandise, issuing receipts and change, handling authorized refunds and credits, and processing returns and exchanges. The Cashier also answers customer questions, addresses complaints, prepares quotations, checks cash drawers at the beginning and end of shifts, examines cash for possible counterfeits, verifies checks, and identifies pricing or coding discrepancies. Additional duties include maintaining orderly checkout areas, monitoring cash levels in tills, posting charges to customer accounts, stocking shelves and marking prices when needed, informing customers about available services, assessing customer needs, and assisting with inventory counts. Cashiers assigned to contractor sales also process merchandise sales to contractors, prepare duty-free quotations and cash or charge transactions, and accept and process payments on accounts. Applicants must have successful passes in at least six CXC subjects, including English and Mathematics, along with previous point-of-sale system and cashier experience.
