Job Description

The Cashier/Clerk role with TDC’s Home and Building Depot in Pinneys, Nevis is responsible for processing customer purchases at the checkout point and safeguarding company cash until it is collected at the appropriate time. Responsibilities include greeting customers, receiving payments by cash, cheque, cards, or vouchers, scanning products, issuing receipts, refunds, credits, or change, processing returns and exchanges, and ensuring credits and quotations are properly authorized by a Manager. The role also involves answering customer questions, helping resolve complaints, posting charges to customer accounts, preparing quotations, checking cash and cheques for accuracy, reporting price or code discrepancies, monitoring till cash levels, and keeping the checkout area clean and orderly. Additional duties may include stocking shelves, marking prices, informing customers about available services, assessing customer needs, assisting with inventory counts, and counting drawer cash at the end of the day to ensure it matches receipts. Applicants should have successful passes in at least six CXC subjects, including English and Mathematics. Retail experience is preferred. The role also requires strong customer service, communication, organization, multitasking, attention to detail, teamwork, accurate money-counting ability, task prioritization, a professional demeanor, a strong work ethic, and willingness to learn.
