Job Description
This full-time faculty role in Basseterre, St. Kitts supports future veterinarians through Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine’s VET-STEP program. It combines academic coaching for students repeating their first semester with classroom teaching in one or more foundational science disciplines, depending on the successful candidate’s background. The position reports to the Head of Department, Biomedical Sciences and the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. Key responsibilities include one-on-one coaching for students facing academic difficulty, helping them identify why performance has slipped, mapping strengths and needs, building individual action plans, and directing students to other campus support services when needed. The role also involves creating teaching resources for the Semester 1 curriculum, leading small-group learning sessions, contributing to team-taught Veterinary Physiology, Gross Anatomy, or Microanatomy courses, working with student engagement and counseling teams, and taking part in research on academic interventions and student outcomes. Applicants should hold a DVM or a comparable qualification such as an MD or a PhD/Master’s in Physiology, Anatomy, or Microanatomy. An EdD, PhD, or Master’s in Education, together with experience in veterinary medical student academic support, would be an advantage. Strong communication, interpersonal, computer, customer service, critical thinking, collaboration, mentoring, teaching, and academic coaching skills are required or preferred as stated in the posting.
