Job Description

This Small Animal Surgery Faculty role at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in Basseterre, St. Kitts supports the preclinical veterinary curriculum through small animal surgery teaching and related instruction. The position reports to the Department Head of Clinical Sciences. Responsibilities include contributing to team-taught small animal surgery courses, teaching other case-based or didactic courses within the candidate’s area of expertise, and taking part in preclinical laboratory sessions such as surgical skills and introductory clinical experience labs. The role also includes occasional surgical consultations in the on-campus community practice clinic, mentoring faculty in that setting, maintaining an active research program, publishing and presenting scholarly work, and handling service commitments such as faculty meetings, committees, postgraduate mentorship, office hours, and other assigned duties. A DVM or equivalent degree plus board certification in Small Animal Surgery (ACVS or ECVS) is required, and a PhD is highly preferred. Prior teaching at an AVMA-accredited institution or equivalent, experience with student-centered teaching approaches, strong collaboration, and clear interpersonal skills are preferred.
