Job Description

This Veterinary Immunology Faculty role with Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in Basseterre, St. Kitts is based in the Department of Biomedical Sciences and supports an interdisciplinary team working across immunology, bacteriology, virology, parasitology, epidemiology, and pathology. The role also involves teaching and research collaboration with colleagues in the Department of Clinical Sciences, and reports to the Head of Department, Biomedical Sciences. Teaching accounts for about 60% of the role and includes Veterinary Immunology, Veterinary Virology, Principles of Infectious Diseases, case-based or other didactic courses, and graduate teaching in the online Master’s program in One-Health. Research and scholarly activity account for about 30%, including developing an independent or collaborative research program, pursuing extramural funding, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and presenting scientific findings at international conferences. Administrative and service duties account for about 10% and may include diagnostic service support, faculty meetings, committees, office hours, postgraduate committees for Master’s and PhD students, and other assigned duties. Required qualifications include a DVM or comparable degree, such as an MD or degree in Immunology/Virology, together with a PhD in Immunology, Virology, or a related area. A thesis concentration in Veterinary Immunology or Virology, post-doctoral training, Diplomate status, clinical diagnostic immunology experience, a publication record, and strong interpersonal and communication skills are highly desirable.
