Job Description

The Accountant will manage the accounting function for TDC Insurance in Saint George Basseterre, St. Kitts, including setting targets and conducting performance reviews for direct reports. Responsibilities include overseeing accounts receivable and payable, credit control, monthly management accounts, budgets, investments, regulatory returns, annual reinsurance premium adjustments, actuarial reviews, and the preparation and sign-off of annual financial accounts. The role also oversees the annual audit and supports the Operations Manager with month-end closing activities. The Accountant reports to and supports the General Manager, deputising in their absence. Responsibilities also include guiding and mentoring junior accountants, identifying training and professional development needs, providing training where possible, and requesting additional training when needed. Applicants must have degree-level education, hold or be undertaking formal accounting qualifications, and be undertaking or have completed an Insurance Diploma (CII). The detailed requirements specify at least five years of accounting experience, detailed knowledge of the Accounting Manual, and a strong understanding of technical accounting and insurance.
