Clerk/Cashier (Temporary)

Job Description

The temporary Clerk/Cashier processes customer purchases and safeguards company cash until collection. Duties include greeting customers, scanning products, accepting cash, checks, credit and debit cards, and vouchers, issuing receipts and change, processing returns and exchanges, and addressing customer questions and complaints. Responsibilities also include checking payment authenticity and accuracy, verifying product prices and codes, preparing customer quotations, posting charges to customer accounts, and obtaining manager approval and signatures for credits and quotations. The cashier counts and balances cash drawers, secures unattended tills, reports excessive cash holdings and pricing discrepancies, maintains orderly checkout areas, stocks shelves, marks prices, and assists with inventory counts. Cashiers assigned to contractor sales also process contractor purchases, prepare duty-free quotations and cash or charge transactions, and accept payments on accounts. The work may require prolonged standing, repetitive hand movements, reaching shelves of varying heights, and frequent stooping, bending, and kneeling. Applicants must have passes in at least six CXC subjects, including English and Mathematics, and previous experience as a cashier and using a point-of-sale system.
