Porter (Temporary)

Job Description

This temporary Porter role with TDC in Saint George Basseterre, St. Kitts supports yard and warehouse operations by following supervisor instructions, helping load and offload materials, and handling the receiving, storing, inventorying, issuing, and transferring of items to and from the warehouse. Day-to-day duties include assisting drivers with packing items on trucks, helping customers in the lumber yard, placing received materials correctly in the stalls, returning goods to the proper location, securing loose materials, keeping yard boundaries clean, and helping with yard maintenance and cleanup. The role may also involve stocking shelves, unpacking deliveries, sorting items by department or section, assisting with stock counts, and supporting flat rack receiving and offloading. The position may require work across the department and overtime when needed, including for cement shipments. The work environment may involve extended periods of standing, repeated hand movements, reaching shelves at different heights, and frequent stooping, bending, and kneeling. The role calls for a high school diploma or equivalent, strong customer service skills, excellent communication skills, and attention to detail, along with the ability to learn product locations in order to assist customers.
