Job Description

This full-time Security Officer position with TDC in Saint George Basseterre, St. Kitts focuses on checkpoint duties at the store entrance and exit while helping maintain a safe and customer-friendly shopping environment. The role combines a visible security presence with courteous customer service when needed. Responsibilities include welcoming customers, checking invoices against items in shopping bags before customers leave the store, monitoring high-risk merchandise, and observing carts and baskets for concealed or unpaid items. The Security Officer is also responsible for remaining vigilant, reporting suspicious activity to management, and using non-confrontational techniques when addressing attempted theft. Additional duties include maintaining professional and courteous interactions with customers, returning carts to their proper location, and carrying out other assigned duties. The work environment requires extended periods of standing, often six to eight hours per shift, and the ability to occasionally lift up to 10 lbs. A Secondary School diploma or equivalent is preferred, along with one to three years of retail experience. Applicants should have a proven record of reliability and punctuality. Required skills include strong customer service, a polite and professional approach, problem-solving ability, observation and attention to detail, the ability to build rapport with diverse populations, clear verbal and non-verbal communication, and the ability to remain calm, helpful, and professional under pressure.
