Job Description

The Welder Assistant (Temporary) role with TDC in Saint George Basseterre, St. Kitts supports welding and manufacturing operations by helping repair metal structures, tools, equipment, and machinery. The position also assists with layout planning, measurements, welding work, and testing welded surfaces. Responsibilities include assisting with welding small and large components, using specialized industrial welding machinery, helping maintain and repair machinery, checking welded surfaces and structures for errors, monitoring machinery use and temperature, and supporting welding work in flat, vertical, and overhead positions. The role also requires following strict safety rules, including the use of protective equipment such as heat-resistant gloves, protective masks, and safety shoes. The work environment may involve repetitive hand movements, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, dusty manufacturing conditions, outdoor work in different weather conditions, indoor work, and occasional work in confined areas designed to contain sparks and glare. Required qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent. A welding certificate from an accredited institution is preferred, and at least two years of welding experience is a plus. The role also calls for strong knowledge of welding machinery, electrical equipment, and manual tools; the ability to read and interpret blueprints and designs; and strong attention to detail.
