Yard Attendant/Porter

Job Description

TDC is seeking a Yard Attendant/Porter in Saint George Basseterre, St. Kitts. The successful candidate will carry out instructions from the Supervisor, assist with loading and offloading materials from trucks, and receive, store, inventory, issue, and transfer items to and from the warehouse. Job duties include unloading merchandise from trucks and containers to the warehouse floor, packing merchandise on warehouse shelves, ensuring proper storage and rotation of warehouse inventory, maintaining tidiness and cleanliness in the warehouse and nearby areas, advising employees on the care, preservation, and handling of warehouse stock, receiving goods into the warehouse, verifying quantities, identifying discrepancies, labeling and coding items, sharing information with the sales floor and administrative offices, preparing and issuing goods to the sales floor and delivery trucks, preparing goods for transfer to other departments, and organizing the loading and offloading of containers. The working environment may require extended periods of standing when dealing with customers. The role also requires the physical ability to perform repetitive hand movements, reach shelves of varying heights, and stoop, bend, and kneel frequently. Qualifications and skills include a high school diploma or equivalent, strong customer service skills, excellent communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to learn where store products are located in order to provide information to customers.
